Lazy bones

It has been over a week that I haven't touched a anything FOW related. I feel bad but hopefully I will be able to do some more later on this week. Don't keep your hopes up.

I put on reserver two books on the Devil's Brigade. How I wish that the PDF army list came out last year instead of this year. I'm still going to focus on my Regina Rifle's and Ist Hussars but the FSSF looks so cool that I might have to buy some US commando's

More Priming with Gesso and more gear

I primed quite a bit over the weekend with my watered down Gesso mix (4 parts gesso / 1 part water). Went on quite quickly but I discovered something the next day... after the gesso dried it shrunk so much that I need to do some touch up. Nothing to severe but it is something to think about.

On Friday I went to Wheels and Wings Hobbies on the Danforth and purchase some more things for my work bench.

  • Tamiya Paint stand
  • Tamiya weathering kit #B
  • Super Glue accelator
I was thinking of actually building my own paint stand but I think it would take much too long to due well. This will hopefully keep my desk clean (still gotta work on this)

Art of War

I did a quick scan of the magazine yesterday and have just started to read it cover to cover and all I can say is WOW!

I love the fact that they are showcasing very different painting styles without favoring one over the other.

They are not afraid to print "GW" in their magazine , especially in the interview section. I love it when a publishers takes the high road.

Lots of things to say

I discovered that I had Remembrance day off and whith no wife and kids I thought it would be a great day.

Almost everything is closed on a Monday. Well, everything that might interest a geek. Since Dueling Grounds was closed I decided to drive up the 404 and pay a visit to Gryphon Games. Their selection of FOW is quite limited. No rulebooks and very limited blister selection. And to top it all off, they advertise that they open at noon but the store was closed when I got there. Arrggg.

No paint was touched yesterday but I was able to finish the prep work on the mortar and MG platoons.

Today, I paid a visit to Dueling Grounds. What a difference... They were getting their shipment from Battlefront later on this which meant that I could not get my hands on "The Art of War". When Wayne heard my plight and discovered that I did not visit the store often due to traveling distance he offered to sell my the store copy. Now that is customer service!

Items that I've bought
  • 2 blisters of Quad tractors
  • 1 blister of magnetic small bases
  • 1 blister of magnetic medium bases
  • 1 blister of two (2) 6 pdr guns
  • D-Day supplement
  • 2 vallejo paint brushes
  • ... And of course the Art of War

Flesh wash and other ramblings

A couple of days ago I did a quick flesh wash on my PBI's. Looks ok.

I also purchased a package of DAS air drying clay, a circle cutter and a 6"x8" wooden frame. I bought the frame on a lark to mount my first platoon on it but I think it is a tad too small. I still might use it for a small diorama.
